Mercedes 280SL
Bodywork | Fabrication | Restoration | Paint
This beautifuly restored Mercedes 280SL came to us requiring a full nut and bolt restoration, all of which, with the exception of professional chroming, was completed in house. Our fabrication team conducted extensive metal work including, jig alignment, following the uncovering of some questionable floor pans which had been layered up during a previous restoration abroad. Subsequently, the car was completely resprayed, with all the brightwork being professionally re-chromed. Our dedicated team were also tasked with rebuilding the engine and the auto gearbox and a rear axle. Furthermore, the Mercedes 280SL was treated to several upgrades including the installation of all new rubber components, sound deadening throughout, a new Bluetooth DAB radio and a full retrim of the boot. The car was then set up with mechanical fuel injection on our rolling road and extensive testing and snagging was carried out.

“
My first car was a Mercedes 280SL, unfortunately I let it go back in the 1980s when their price was rock bottom – it was a huge regret, so I bought another. It was important to me for the car to be the colour of my original car and to have the comfort of a modern. Peter and his team listened to my requirements: giving me a safe, reliable classic. The work undertaken was completed to a high standard and I now own the car I always wanted.
