Maserati 3500 GTi
concours restoration | fabrication | trimming | paint
The customer of this car was looking for the style and authenticity of the original 1960’s Maserati 3500 GTI with hidden modern upgrades. Initially, it underwent a complete strip-down and rebuild of all the existing components to make the car as original as possible, with the desired upgrades. These upgrades included an electronic fuel injection system hidden inside the original Lucas mechanical injection. It has also had a modern single-coil per cylinder ignition system installed with twin spark, and both the ignition and injection are fully sequential. Adding wide-band Lamba sensors in the exhausts allowed for closed-loop fuel trims, ensuring fuelling is always correct. The brake system was fully rebuilt and upgraded, the ZF 5-speed gearbox was fully rebuilt, and a brand new wiring loom was fitted.
For the comfort of the customer, sound deadening was installed throughout and a full retrim in grey leather and carpet was completed in-house. Style was also key, so all instruments, switches, and controls are all restored originals. Additionally, all brightwork was professionally repaired and replated, a Bluetooth radio installed, and extensive road and dyno testing was carried out.
